TradeChoice Carpet & Floorings journey to integrate Descartes Transportation Management
TradeChoice Carpet & Flooring is one of the largest distributors of floor covering products in the UK and partnered with Epaccsys to integrate Epicor with Descartes Transportation Management to improve their delivery processes.
Founded in 1992 TradeChoice Carpet & Flooring has grown into one of the largest specialist distributors of floorcovering products in the UK. They stock products from many of Europe’s leading manufacturers, as well as produce their own floorcovering and domestic flooring brands CFS and Vanguard™. TradeChoice supply products to be used in domestic and commercial environments such as housing development, leisure, hospitality, education, residential care and retail.

Headquartered in Redditch, Worcestershire they have UK branch network, plus a National Distribution Centre in the Midlands. Each of the UK sites has trade counters where trade and domestic customers can purchase goods all serviced via an internal fleet of delivery vehicles.
The fleet of delivery vehicles, distribute stock UK-wide are known to the business as ‘trunkers’, they also have local site delivery vehicles which deliver to customers – TradeChoice needed a solution to provide a more efficient and improved delivery process for their customers.
Trade Choice invested in a route optimising and transport planning solution namely Descartes On Demand.
Import/export files were originally ingested to both systems to update data records accordingly, this is a flat file integration and a one off daily task. TradeChoice also had a customised Epicor Transport Planning solution which they wanted to decommission with a view to moving back to standard Epicor functionality.
Descartes On Demand gives the business automated customer notifications for the delivery drivers estimated arrival time and an electronic proof of delivery solution, which in turn provides a proof of delivery to their customers for all confirmed deliveries via email. This aids the invoicing process and reduces the number of customer queries, which supports cash flow.
TradeChoice now has real-time integration between Epicor ERP and Descartes, enabling them to provide a more efficient and improved delivery process for their customers. This improved the track and traceability of receipt of goods with notifications back into Epicor, improved visibility of available stock for delivery and picking process along with the status of the deliveries.
